North Tartan 13U West Finishes 3rd at State

3rd Place at State
28 Division 1 AAU Teams entered the 8th grade State Tournament. There were a ton of great games played at this division and the talent in this grade is DEEP across the state. The team opened the State Tournament with a 52-31 win over #15 seeded MN Exposure South. There was some rust early, but the defensive pressure eventually led to a 20 point half time lead. Kelsie Cox, Erin Norling, Gabi Haack, and Sophie Koeppl all scored double digits in the win. The team then faced #7 seeded Midtown Lady Monarchs who the team had beat by 45 in the Qualifier. This game was much different as both teams came out really aggressive. After trailing the entire first half and much of the second half, the team persevered and came out with a 47-38 win. Again, defense was why the team pulled out the victory. Alayna Johnson led the team with 10 points. Sunday morning would turn out to be another tough battle with the #3 seeded MN Fury Blue team in the semifinals. After trailing 2-17 and later trailing 4-23, the team continued to battle and play our game losing in the end 50-54. All 9 players scored and contributed in the game. The final game of the tournament was for 3rd place against the #5 seeded MN Thunderbirds that featured some elite players from the state. After a great 9-2 start, the Thunderbirds came storming back hitting 6 first half three pointers. Hailey Sorenson hit a 3 pointer at the buzzer of the first half cutting the the Thunderbird lead to 27-29. The team cranked up the defense in the second half and pushed the ball rallying to a 50-47 win. All players again scored as sharing the basketball and setting up teammates has been a goal for all! Madison Monahan did not play as her wrist was put in a cast. Happy Memorial Day All!!

Team earns 2 Seed at State Tournament after going 3-1 in the Qualifier

At the seeding meeting before the State Qualifier, NT 13 West was awarded the 6 seed which allowed them to play with the top 8 teams in the State. After some tough fought games, the team finished 3-0 in their pool beating the 2-seed, 4-seed, and 8-seed. After leading 21-10 over North Tartan 13U, the team lost 52-62 earning the 2-seed in the State Tournament. The team played without Feyisayo Ayobamidele and lost Madison Monahan to a wrist injury. Highlights include all 9 players scoring in the win vs. MN Stars and in the win over the Midtown Lady Monarchs. Gabi Haack averaged 16 pts over the 4 games and the team again made a ton of 3-pointers hitting 20 over 4 games. Off to State!!

3-1 Opening, 3rd Place Finish at Hardwood Tournament

The team battled in its first tournament of the new AAU season concentrating hard on defense and a new motion offense. The team gave up an average of 37pts per game over 4 games. The team played up in the 14U Division at this tournament. Highlights include all 10 players scoring at least 4 pts in the win over Team Edge and as a whole hitting 17 three pointers over the 4-games. Great 3rd Place Finish!
